This course is for IPS specialists, case managers, family members or anyone else who wants to learn more about mental illnesses. Five units cover the following topics:
- What is Mental Illness?
- Anxiety and Depression
- Psychosis
- Substance Use Disorders, and
- Personality Disorders
Included in each unit are specific diagnosis that fall within each category, symptoms, treatment, and stories of how individuals live productive and meaningful lives in spite of having mental illnesses. Course participants will read material, take quizzes, and watch videos. In addition, they will receive an assignment at the end of unit 1 that they should complete and submit to their instructor by the end of the course.
You will need to be able to access YouTube to see some of the videos in the course. If your workplace blocks YouTube, consider going through the units at a library or at home. Ask your supervisor if you can make an arrangement to to that.
