<\/strong><\/p>\nSupportive Housing & Individual Placement and Support (SHIPS) Demonstration<\/strong>: <\/strong>The Supportive Housing and Individual Placement and Support (SHIPS) project is a randomized controlled trial in Los Angeles designed to compare the employment and housing outcomes of people in supportive housing who participate in Individual Placement and Support (IPS) to those who do not. The goal of the project is to improve the self-sufficiency and well-being of people in supportive housing while establishing guidelines for implementation of IPS in this new context. The comprehensive care center is the largest mental health clinic in Jalisco, serving around 5,000 people.<\/p>\nThe project team will consult with different stakeholder groups to adapt IPS training and tools for the local context while maintaining the core components. Ongoing IPS training for staff will combine in-person and online methods.<\/p>\n
A randomized trial will compare employment outcomes between participants receiving IPS versus standard services over one year. The study will evaluate IPS implementation by monitoring participation, service quality, and identifying facilitators and barriers.<\/p>\n
Finally, the team will estimate resources needed to scale up IPS across Jalisco’s mental health system. The goal is to successfully adapt IPS and demonstrate improved employment for people with serious mental illness through this collaboration.<\/p>\n

IPS Young Adult Project:<\/strong> Helping Young Adults Succeed at Work and School Through IPS Supported Employment<\/p>\nThis mixed-methods cohort study will evaluate the effectiveness of Individual Placement and Support (IPS) for 150 young adults (aged 16-24) with psychiatric disabilities enrolled in 10 IPS programs located in 5 different states. The research team will evaluate employment and education outcomes over a 12-month period following enrollment into IPS. We will also conduct qualitative interviews with state leaders, IPS team leaders, and young adults. States participating in the study were chosen from among the 24 states in the IPS Learning Community. The IPS Young Adult Network, a \u201cmini-learning community\u201d within the larger IPS Learning Community, will advise the research team and facilitate mutual support and shared learning among IPS programs serving young adults. The Young Adult Network will meet regularly during the 3-year project period, including two in-person meetings, to discuss the lessons learned from offering IPS to this age group. The study will also assess the feasibility, reliability, and validity of a new fidelity scale, the IPS-Y, which is an adaptation of the IPS Fidelity Scale with an additional focus on supported education. We will disseminate findings from the project in newsletters, learning community calls, conferences, and professional journals<\/p>\n
